I am so Disheartened

I just got back from my WI and once again I only lost .4 lbs.  WTH?  I stayed on plan and exercised 3 times @ 3o minutes each and almost eliminated diet pop by drinking lots of water.  Again, WTH?  I have lost a total of 5.5 inches (3 in my waist).

I am seriously disheartened.  Am I destined to be fat?  Is the fact that I am on a buttload of medicines and going through early menopause hindering me? Am I just not a good fit for Jenny Craig? I chose JC so I wouldn't have to cook or measure my food.  Maybe I should pursue getting a lap band?

I am fighting back tears and just don't know what to do.

I welcome any thoughts, tips and suggestions.

The only tip I can give you is don't give up. Weight loss isn't always about numbers and pounds - do your clothes feel looser? Can you breathe easier while working out? You will have good weeks and bad. I am not a fan of weight loss surgeries as it alters your insides - that is scary to me. I have started diets ten million different times, it sucks. I have failed, gave up, cried, starved myself, binged, ugh... the list goes on and on. Something *clicked this time and I have no clue what it was, but I am losing. If I can do it from 311 pounds, anyone can. Don't give up. Focus on other ways to improve your health, your emotional health, confidence, etc. and things will start to fall into place. It will take HARD work, sweat, tears and commitment - but do it! Just do it!

I'm really sorry that you're struggling. I know you want to see those big losses every week.

I would really encourage you to use SparkPeople and make sure you're getting all of your calories. You can be eating straight Jenny Food and gaining or stalled in your weight loss because you're not meeting your calorie goals. Another reason you need to track is that your weight loss may be hindered by too much sodium!! When you track all your food and are totally accountable to that little tool that says 'you went over your sodium goals today' or 'you went under your calories today', it's very helpful!! It's working for me, doing meals on my own, I understand what's going into my mouth and into my body and it helps!

Keep on fighting, you can do this. You're going the right direction! Your early menopause definitely can cause fluctuations in your water balance and pills can affect it too! But you can do this, you can!

I know you probably get this a lot (actually I know you DO get it a lot because I'm one of the ones that say it), but a loss is a loss! Seriously, it'll add up. I know it's frustrating having lost 2-3 pounds a week those first few weeks, but it is going to slow down. You just have to keep trucking along.

Have you thought about exercising more? Maybe bumping it up to 5 days a week? Or just adding 5-10 more minutes onto what you already do?

And don't be afraid to try other programs, JC might be convenient, but if it's not working for you then you might want to try something else. Ultimately, it would be beneficial for you to learn about measuring/weighing your foods because it sets you up for a lifetime of success, relying on JC doesn't really seem like a lifelong thing, you know?

Chin up girl, you've got this and you can do it - it's just going to take a little bit of time to find what fits for you. :)

Maybe you should try medifast or some other diet plan. Lap band only works if you put the effort in, my best friend had it in June 2010 and she has gained back all of the weight she lost during the surgery prep stage. Surgery is a tool not a solution.

Also, a loss is a loss.

I agree with the majority- don't give up... its not an easy road and surgery isn't an answer -- its just a different route that will still have its ups and downs. Numbers on a scale don't always tell us what we think we should be seeing. If your food is seriously on point and your workouts are consistent somethings got to give elsewhere. Either way, youre doing doing good for your body and it will show you results... xoxo

No advise (because I'm a super slow looser) but just here to offer up a hug. Be good to yourself !

.4 pounds is still a loss! I think you should stick with it! Do not give up, JC works and it is working for you! Keep with it. These losses will add up!

Hey girl. I have a friend that is on a lot of medicine too. She also has fibro. She is on Nutrisystem and kicking butt! She has lost over 50 pounds! You might want to try it. JC may not be a right fit, but that doesn't mean you are destined to be fat. There is something out there that WILL work for YOU! Keep your chin up!

Don't give up! As others said, a loss is a loss! I look at my Pomeranian dog and think .4 is almost a half pound - he's only six pounds and .4 of a pound is like losing, well, his LEG! LOL (trying to hopefully make you laugh here!) One of my times on program I went four weeks losing NOTHING. I thought I would go crazy and give up. Then - I hit the scale with a four pound weight loss. Who can reason with it sometimes? Just keep it up. Stay positive! :)
